Industrial Chemist from UFSM (1993). MSc and PhD in Chemistry from UNICAMP (1999). Postdoctoral fellow at Texas A&M University (2012) and USDA/ARS (2012). Served as President of the Brazilian Society of Specialists in Agricultural and Agroindustrial Production Waste (SBERA) during 2009–2011 and 2011–2013, Area Director for Livestock Production at SBERA (2017–2019), and Deputy Head of Research and Development at Embrapa Swine and Poultry (2014–2021). Currently, he is a researcher at Embrapa Swine and Poultry.
He is also a professor in the following graduate programs: Agricultural Engineering (UNIOESTE, Cascavel-PR campus); Environmental Science and Technology (UFFS, Erechim-RS campus); and Environmental Engineering and Technology (UFPR, Palotina-PR campus). He serves as area editor for the following scientific journals: Engenharia Agrícola (Sanitation and Environmental Control), Frontiers of Sustainable Food Systems (Waste Management in Agroecosystems), and Sustainability (Livestock Manure and Waste Treatment).
He has experience in Agricultural and Environmental Engineering, with emphasis on animal production waste treatment and utilization, focusing mainly on the following topics: anaerobic digestion, nitrogen removal (via Anammox process, nitrification, and denitrification), phosphorus removal, and wastewater reuse.
