Francisco Cervantes

Francisco J. Cervantes obtained his PhD in Environmental Sciences from the Department of Environmental Technology at Wageningen University (The Netherlands, 2002). He is a Professor at the Engineering Institute of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He is a member of the editorial board of Reviews in Environmental Science and BioTechnology (Springer) and Associate/Guest Editor of IWA Publishing, Frontiers in Microbiology, and Environmental Research. He has authored over 150 peer-reviewed research papers and several book chapters and has given several lectures around the world. According to Google Scholar, he has received more than 9000 citations, and his H-index is 50. He is a consultant with over 25 years of experience in wastewater treatment projects from different industrial sectors. Several wastewater treatment plants designed by Dr. Cervantes are currently in operation in different industrial sectors of Latin America. He has received several distinctions in his scientific career, including the prestigious Lettinga Award 2007, the National Research Award 2008 (in Engineering and Technology, Mexican Academy of Sciences), and the Marcos Moshinsky Fellow, Querétaro Business Merit Award in Science and Technology 2023, among others.
