Civil Engineer (UFPE), Master in Hydraulics and Sanitation (EESC-USP), PhD in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences from Wageningen University in the Netherlands, with specializations in Sanitary Engineering (UFC), Anaerobic Effluent Treatment (IHE/DELFT-Netherlands) and Environmental Management (IMC-Japan). Currently, she is a Full Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UFPE and a Researcher at CNPQ. In 2010, she was admitted to the National Order of Scientific Merit (Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation), in the Commander class. He is a full member of the Pernambuco Academy of Engineering (APEENG) and the Pernambuco Academy of Sciences (APC).
She has an extensive international career as a visiting professor and participation in cooperation projects at renowned institutions, including Imperial College London, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, University of Arizona, University of Bochum, Xian Jiaotong University, National Autonomous University of Mexico and Delft University of Technology.
In his academic and management career, he coordinated the Environmental Area of the FACEPE Induction Program, the Postgraduate Program in Civil Engineering at UFPE and the Institutional Scientific Initiation Scholarship Program (PIBIC/CNPq) at UFPE. He was responsible for implementing the Institutional Program for Initiation Scholarships in Technological Development and Innovation (PIBITI/CNPq) and the Institutional Program for Scientific Initiation Scholarships for High School (PIBIC-EM/UFPE/CNPq) at UFPE. Nationally, he coordinated the National Research Network on Basic Sanitation, Sewage Tema (PROSAB – FINEP), and the National Network for Nutrient Removal from Sewage – RENUTRES (FINEP).
He has published more than 300 works in national and international magazines, congresses and books, and supervised more than 200 works by scientific initiation, specialization, master’s, doctorate and post-doctoral students. He participated in dozens of public competition boards and master’s and doctorate defenses in Brazil and abroad (Germany, Spain and the Netherlands).
As a consultant, she participated in the preparation of environmental control plans and environmental assessment of large projects, including the Port of Suape, Recife/Guararapes International Airport, Estaleiro Atlântico Sul, several thermoelectric plants, housing and hotel complexes, landfills, hydroelectric plants, factories, among others. In 2022, he was one of 24 professionals nominated by Crea-PE to participate in the book Memória da Engenharia em Pernambuco (available at www.creape.org.br). In 2024, he received the Outstanding Professionals honor for 90 years of CREA (Recife City Council).
