Full Professor at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), PQ-2 researcher of CNPq, and leader of the research group Resource-Oriented Sanitation. She holds a degree in Chemical Engineering (UEM), a Master’s in Public Health Engineering (University of Leeds, United Kingdom), and a PhD in Environmental Sciences (Wageningen University, the Netherlands). She is a member of the steering committee of the Resource Oriented Sanitation Specialist Group of the International Water Association (IWA), with significant international engagement. With more than 20 years of experience in the treatment of domestic and agro-industrial wastewater, she is dedicated to the research and development of decentralized sanitation systems. Her projects focus on sustainability assessment and the recovery of resources from source-separated domestic wastewater, mainly applying simple technologies such as anaerobic digestion, as well as nature-based solutions.
