Ricardo Steinmetz

Ricardo Steinmetz coordinates activities at the Laboratory of Biogas Studies at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa Suínos e Aves). He works at “Environmental Thematic Nucleus” research group, on projects in the areas of environmental analytical chemistry and biotechnological processes, working mainly on strategies for the treatment and use of agricultural and agro-industrial waste through anaerobic digestion and energy recovery. He has a PhD in Chemical Engineering, with an emphasis on the development of chemical and biotechnological processes, from the Federal University of Santa Catarina/Brazil (2016), which includes a period of sandwich scholarship at the Landesanstalt für Agrartechnik und Bioenergie at the University of Hohenheim/Germany (2015). He has a degree in Industrial Chemistry (2004) and a master’s degree in Chemistry with an emphasis on environmental analysis (2007) from the Federal University of Santa Maria/Brazil. He was member of the Board of Directors of the Red de Biodigestores para América Latina y el Caribe (RedBioLAC, 2017 to 2021) and held the presidency of the Brazilian Society for Agricultural and Agroindustrial Waste Management (Sbera, management 2019-2023).
