The XV Latin American Workshop and Symposium on Anaerobic Digestion
The XV Latin American Workshop and Symposium on Anaerobic Digestion: Contributing to the energy transition and decarbonization, will take place in Fortaleza, Ceará, from October 14th to 17th, 2025. The main objective is to promote discussions on new scientific advances and challenges and technological processes related to the anaerobic treatment of solid and liquid waste, waste revaluation, energy transition and CO2 capture2energy recovery via methane or hydrogen, recovery of nutrients and fine chemicals, reuse of water and sludge, among other precious products, emphasizing their contribution to the circular economy, in addition to promoting the exchange of knowledge between academia, society, govern and the business sector.
The target audience for the event in question is expected to comprise undergraduate and postgraduate students, researchers, professionals, managers, politicians, designers, development institutions, companies operating in the sanitation sector, industries, public and private companies, NGOs and international cooperation organizations interested and active in the area of anaerobic digestion, renewable energy, biomass, sewage treatment, solid waste, sludge, rational use of water, nutrients and energy, etc.

General information
If an abstract is selected for oral, short oral or poster presentation, at least one author must register for the conference and present the work. However, no registration can have more than 2 works linked, regardless of the method of acceptance after the review process. Any subsequent works must be presented by a co-author.
All accepted abstracts will be included in the conference proceedings. Authors of accepted oral/short oral/poster presentations must submit a complete article. Complete articles must have a maximum of eight A4 pages (including figures, tables and references).
Following the peer review process, selected full articles are considered for publication in Water Science & Technology following the journal review process. Please note that acceptance of a paper for conference presentation or selection of the full paper to be considered for publication in the related journal does not guarantee subsequent acceptance for publication in the journal.

Presentation Guides
You must prepare your slides and poster in ENGLISH. Presentations and lectures may be in English (recommended), Spanish or Portuguese. There is no template for oral presentations or posters.
– Oral presentations: You will be asked to send your PowerPoint or Adobe presentation to the organizers before the conference. The presentation file is in free format and the total presentation time is 15 min (12 min for presentation and 3 min for questions). Please note that other programs/formats for presenting the work will not be permitted. Authors must go to the Media Desk at least two hours before the start of the session. There will be two face-to-face sessions and you will later be informed which session corresponds to your presentation.
– Short oral presentations: This method is used to make a brief presentation of your poster. You will be asked to send your PowerPoint or Adobe presentation to the organizers before the conference. The presentation file is in free format and the total presentation time is 5 min (NO questions). Please note that other programs/formats for presenting the work will not be permitted. Authors must go to the Media Desk at least two hours before the start of the session. There will be two face-to-face sessions and you will later be informed which session corresponds to your presentation. In addition, you must bring your printed poster (Vertical 90 cm x 120 cm) to present at the conference and clarify any doubts. You will later be invited to send the organizers a PDF (maximum 5 MB) to post in a repository (for virtual sessions).
– Poster presentations: You must bring your printed poster (Vertical 90 cm wide x 120 cm long) to present at the conference. There will be three face-to-face sessions to interact and clarify doubts and later you will be informed which session corresponds to your presentation. Additionally, you will be invited to send the organizers a PDF (maximum 5 MB) to post in a repository (for virtual sessions).
